According to a recent report, the Miami Dolphins believe that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will make his return from injury in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“We knew that Tua Tagovailoa was not gonna play this week for the Miami Dolphins,” said NFL insider Ian Rapoport. “What we did not know until yesterday was that he was not gonna play two additional games as well. Yesterday, the Dolphins officially placed Tua on IR, which means he’s out a minimum of three weeks with those cracked ribs, multiple cracked ribs. I’m told they do expect him back at the three-week mark. So Week 6 is when you should see Tua back.”
Tagovailoa was placed on injured reserve on Saturday, meaning he will miss at least the team’s next three games. It’s good to hear that the Dolphins expect him to return to action soon.
While the Dolphins probably would have wanted the earlier weeks of their 2021 season to be a time for the players to build chemistry for a potential playoff run, taking care of Tagovailoa’s health is surely more important. After all, the quarterback has had an injury-plagued football career thus far.
With Tagovailoa out, Jacoby Brissett will start at quarterback for Miami. The team is reportedly making “some differences” to the offense to better fit Brissett’s skills.
