According to a report, sports medical doctor David Chao thinks Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is “likely” to miss multiple weeks with his rib injury.
“According to prominent sports medical doctor David Chao – who does media work – Tagovailoa is likely to miss multiple weeks,” wrote Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “If he misses three games, he would sit out games against the [Las Vegas] Raiders, [Indianapolis] Colts and Tampa Bay but could be back against [Jacksonville] Jaguars in London on Oct. 17.
“Chao said Tagovailoa would be at risk of a punctured lung if he returns too soon from the injury.”
So far, the Dolphins have only announced that Tagovailoa will miss the team’s Week 3 game. However, according to this report, Miami might be without the 23-year-old for an extended period of time.
Tagovailoa led the Dolphins to a win in their Week 1 matchup with the New England Patriots before the former first-round pick left the team’s Week 2 game early on. Miami is 1-1 on the year, and it sounds like the team might have to stay afloat without Tagovailoa for a little while.
In Tagovailoa’s absence, it will be very interesting to see how Jacoby Brissett performs. The Dolphins are going to need him to step up in a big way.
Brissett started 15 games in the 2019 season and completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 2,942 yards and 18 touchdowns.
