Report: Tua Tagovailoa will miss Week 3 as Miami Dolphins look to ‘save him from himself’
- Updated: September 22, 2021
Miami Dolphins fans got some bad news on Wednesday, as head coach Brian Flores announced that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will miss the team’s Week 3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
To make matters worse, it sounds there are no guarantees that he will return in time for Week 4.
Brian Flores: Tua will be out this week with fractured ribs. Gonna take it week to week. "This is a tough kid. He wants to play. We're just going to save him from himself."

Jacoby Brissett will get the start for Miami in Week 3. In 2019, Brissett was a 15-game starter. That year, he completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 2,942 yards and 18 touchdowns.
The 28-year-old will have to run the offense in Tagovailoa’s absence. The Dolphins might try to run the ball frequently with Tagovailoa out, but given the poor play of Miami’s offensive line, it might be hard to establish an effective run game.
Miami is 1-1 on the season and will look to get their second win in Week 3.
