Dolphins head coach Brian Flores gave an update on Davis’ status on Monday, but he wasn’t sure of the severity of the injury.
Clearly, Davis wasn’t going to be healthy enough to appear in the next couple of games, so the Dolphins are opting for roster flexibility by placing him on injured reserve.
Davis, a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, had 40 tackles and one tackle for loss as a rookie. He appeared in all 16 games, making 12 starts.
Miami will take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 2 as it attempts to remain atop the AFC East standings.
