Jaylen Waddle’s former coach compares his talent level to that of former college legend

Rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is looking to make a splash this year and prove that drafting him No. 6 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft was the right move for the Miami Dolphins.

His former coach at the University of Alabama even believes the young prospect should be mentioned in the same breath as retired NFL star Reggie Bush.

In a recent episode of NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” correspondent James Palmer said that former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian had informed teams about how Waddle is similar to Bush.

“I talked to so many people in the scouting process about Jaylen Waddle,” Palmer said. “And a couple of teams told me this: Steve Sarkisian told them that (Waddle) is the only player he would ever put in the category of Reggie Bush, which is a remarkable sense of praise.

“The way he gets in and out of breaks, double moves, all the quickness, all the speed that he has.”

This is certainly a flattering comparison for Waddle as Bush is known as one of the best college football players ever.

Sarkisian had the opportunity to coach both players. He had served as the quarterbacks coach under Pete Carroll for the University of Southern California when Bush suited up for the Trojans.
