Report: Miami Dolphins releasing Benardrick McKinney

1 Min Read

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly releasing linebacker Benardrick McKinney.

In March, McKinney was traded to the Dolphins from the Houston Texans in exchange for Shaq Lawson and a sixth-round pick. Miami received McKinney and a seventh-round pick in the deal.

The Dolphins will now proceed with Elandon Roberts, Jerome Baker and Calvin Munson at inside linebacker.

McKinney appeared in just four games in the 2020 season and recorded 37 tackles.

For his career, he’s played in 80 games and recorded 530 tackles and 11.5 sacks. He has been named to the Pro Bowl once in his career.

It’s an interesting move for the Dolphins considering they gave up a sixth-round pick to acquire McKinney, but the team seems to be content with the rest of its depth at the position.
