Sam Eguavoen still not satisfied after monster 4-sack performance against Atlanta Falcons

Miami Dolphins linebacker Sam Eguavoen had a dominant performance in the team’s 37-17 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Eguavoen finished the game with four sacks and 11 total tackles to help lead Miami’s defense.

However, the 28-year-old isn’t satisfied after that performance.

“It’s still a fight. It don’t matter what you do today. It’s always — the rent is due every day,” Eguavoen said following the win. “You can’t get lackadaisical because, oh, I got four sacks this week or I got a pick that week. There’s always somebody ready to take your spot just like when I was in Canada; I’m waiting for somebody to slip up in the NFL.

“I’m going to rejoice [Saturday night], but [Sunday], I know I’m still going to get chewed out in film for plays that I messed up on. And you just go back into practice, the next weekend and you’ve got to do it all over again. I never get complacent with anything I do.”

Eguavoen has spent the past two seasons with the Dolphins.

Prior to joining the Dolphins, he spent three seasons in the CFL.

In 2019, he appeared in 16 games, making six starts, and recorded 3.5 sacks and 42 tackles.

He took a step back in 2020 despite appearing in all 16 games, as he put up just nine tackles.

This year, Eguavoen appears to be motivated to stay on the Dolphins’ roster and make a major impact like he did against Atlanta.
