The Dolphins selected Phillips in the first round of the 2021 draft. The upcoming season will be his first in the NFL.
The linebacker spent his collegiate days at the University of California, Los Angeles and University of Miami. He impressed a lot of folks with his athletic ability, and he made an impact in almost all of his games in college.
In total, he racked up 49 solo tackles, 37 assists on tackles, 23.5 tackles for a loss and 12.5 sacks between his time at UCLA and Miami. At the pro level, he figures to fit in as a crucial piece for Miami defensively.
Health is going to be something to keep an eye on with Phillips. He has been through a lot medically, and the Dolphins are being very cautious with him.
