Miami Dolphins coach raves about Raekwon Davis: ‘I’m really fired up about him’

Miami Dolphins defensive line coach Austin Clark recently had some great things to say about Raekwon Davis.

“He’s bought in all the way,” Clark said. “Physical guy, great length. I’m really fired up about him. He approaches the game the right way every day; he’s going to keep getting better. And he’s developing as a pass rusher also.”

The Dolphins selected Davis in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The 2021 season will be his second with the team.

“But where some may say leverage can make it harder, his length is a huge advantage for him,” Clark added. “Fundamentally, he’s so strong he’s able to stay low.”

During his rookie campaign, Davis appeared in all 16 games, starting 12 of them. He registered 19 solo tackles and 21 assists on tackles. It was a solid introduction into the league.

Davis spent his collegiate years at the University of Alabama. He accomplished a lot there. During his four-year collegiate career, he racked up 67 solo tackles, 108 assists and 11.5 sacks. He did all of that in 43 games.

The 24-year-old seems to have a very high ceiling, and as he gains experience at the NFL level, he figures to improve. He’s going to be a key defensive piece for the Dolphins in the 2021 season, and it would be great to see him step up for a defensive line that has a lot of room to improve.

Miami is looking for its first playoff bid since the 2016 season.
