The Miami Dolphins reportedly are signing former New England Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty.
McCourty, a 12-year veteran, spent time with Dolphins head coach Brian Flores when he was with the Patriots.
The 33-year-old McCourty appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots last year and made 11 starts.
He finished with 42 tackles and three passes defended in the 2020 season.
McCourty will join a solid secondary for the Dolphins that already includes Byron Jones and Xavien Howard.
Since he has played under Flores before, McCourty should have an easy adjustment to the Dolphins’ defensive scheme.
Miami went 10-6 last season but missed the playoffs after losing to the Buffalo Bills in Week 17. The team may think that adding a veteran like McCourty will help improve its playoff chances in 2021.
