During Clemson University’s pro day, Miami Dolphins co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach Eric Studesville was seen leading top prospect Travis Etienne through his position drills.
Etienne put together four solid years at Clemson, though his 2020 numbers dipped because of injuries during the course of the tumultuous season.
As a key member of the Tigers’ backfield, Etienne was twice named ACC Player of the Year and rushed for 4,952 yards and 70 touchdowns during his career.
In addition, he also averaged an astounding 7.2 yards per carry and also caught 102 passes while wearing the Clemson uniform.
Studesville was elevated to the co-offensive coordinator position last month with George Godsey and has also looked at other potential running back selections for the Dolphins. During the week of the Senior Bowl, he was assessing the talents of University of Alabama running back Najee Harris.
The possibility does exist that the Dolphins will choose to bulk up their running back corps during the upcoming free agency period, with James Conner of the Pittsburgh Steelers rumored to be in the mix along with Aaron Jones.
Whether it’s through the draft or through free agency, there’s little doubt that the Dolphins intend to add some serious talent to their running backs unit this offseason.
