Tua Tagovailoa admits he’s ‘not too sure’ if it’s safe for fans to buy his Miami Dolphins jersey

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is stuck in an odd situation.

He was the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but the Dolphins have been one of the teams rumored to be chasing Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

That has left Tagovailoa’s future up in the air, and he admitted that fact in a recent radio appearance.

“The crazy thing is I never heard about the rumor until my agent reached out to me,” Tagovailoa told Adam Schein on Mad Dog radio. “I’m not one to really listen to the radio or watch ESPN. Really, the only time I would watch TV is to watch the football games on Sunday and watch teams.

“I don’t hear too much of that. The only time I did hear about that conversation was from my agent. That’s something that would be out of my control, regardless. That would be on the decision of the Miami Dolphins organization. I have to control what I can control. For me I got to continue to work hard and be able to prove myself next year.”

When Tagovailoa was asked if it was safe to purchase his Dolphins jersey for the future, he had a matter-of-fact response.

“Honestly, I’m not too sure,” Tagovailoa said.

The Dolphins went 10-6 this season, but it seems that they may feel that they could upgrade their situation at quarterback.

As a rookie, Tagovailoa threw for 1,814 yards, 11 touchdowns and five picks.
