Report: Miami Dolphins hire new quarterback coach to help Tua Tagovailoa

The Miami Dolphins reportedly have hired former NFL quarterback Charlie Frye as their new quarterback coach.

Frye was the offensive coordinator at Central Michigan University this past year.

In a corresponding move, the Dolphins have parted ways with previous quarterback coach Robby Brown.

It is an interesting move for Miami, as it clearly is trying to find the best staff to help quarterback Tua Tagovailoa succeed next season.

Tagovailoa showed flashes as a rookie, but he finished the year with just 1,814 passing yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 games.

Miami went 10-6 last season, but clearly the team feels there can be upgrades on the offensive side of the ball.

Frye, 39, was a third-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2005 NFL Draft.

In his NFL career, Frye threw for 4,154 yards, 17 touchdowns and 29 interceptions in 26 games (23 starts).

As the offensive coordinator at Central Michigan last season, his offense averaged 31.3 points per game.
