Miami Dolphins quarterback Xavien Howard had an unbelievable 2020 campaign, and he was rewarded for it on Friday.
Howard was voted to the Associated Press’ first team All-Pro squad. This season, Howard became the first player in 13 years to have double-digit interceptions in a season.
The 27-year-old was the definition of reliable, as he started all 16 games for Miami. Howard finished the season with 10 interceptions.
Since he never had more than one pick in a game, Howard had an interception in 10 of the Dolphins’ 16 contests this year. That is truly remarkable.
In addition, Howard led the NFL in passes defended with 20, and he also totaled 51 tackles, a forced fumble and one tackle for a loss this season.
Howard has made a serious case for the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award.
The Dolphins went 10-6 this season, but they failed to make the playoffs.
However, they showed that they have one of the best defensive units in the NFL, and Howard was a huge reason why.
