Report: Ryan Fitzpatrick tests positive for COVID-19, out Sunday vs. Buffalo Bills

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

Fitzpatrick helped lead the Dolphins to a win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 16. He replaced rookie Tua Tagovailoa and threw for 182 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Now, the Dolphins will likely have third-string quarterback Jake Rudock as Tagovailoa’s backup on Sunday.

With Miami fighting for a playoff spot, its hopes will be on Tagovailoa’s shoulders.

Miami has benched the rookie for Fitzpatrick twice this season during games, but with Fitzpatrick out, it will likely be an entire game for Tagovailoa.

Miami is currently 10-5 and the No. 5 seed in the AFC.

However, the Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns are all also 10-5. That means that if those four teams win and Miami loses, it would find itself missing out on the postseason.

The Bills have already locked up the AFC East at 12-3, but they are playing for seeding on Sunday, meaning Miami will have to bring its best game to win.
