Report: Justin Fields could ‘be in the conversation’ for Miami Dolphins in 2021 NFL Draft
- Updated: December 30, 2020

Ohio State University quarterback Justin Fields reportedly could be “in the conversation” for both the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Mike Tannenbaum on ESPN just now: “If Justin Fields plays great over the next couple of weeks, he’ll be in the conversation both in Miami and at the Jets.”

The Jets and Dolphins are both guaranteed to have top-five draft picks, as the Dolphins hold the Houston Texans’ first-rounder for 2021.
Fields threw for 41 touchdowns and three interceptions in his sophomore season at Ohio State. This year, he has thrown for 15 scores and five picks in six games.
While he is considered one of the 2021 draft class’ top players, it is surprising that Miami would be interested in Fields.
After all, the Dolphins selected Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Miami benched veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick earlier in the 2020 season and turned to Tagovailoa, but the rookie has struggled at times this season.
Tagovailoa was benched in Miami’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders last week, and Fitzpatrick helped lead the team to victory.
If Miami doesn’t believe that Tagovailoa can be the team’s quarterback of the future, Field certainly would be a nice option.
However, it would be an indictment of Tagovailoa and the organization if it gave up on him so quickly.
Right now, the Dolphins are focused on trying to make the playoffs and picking up a win in Week 17.
