Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa paid tribute to Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, calling the fourth-year player a “generational talent.”
Tagovailoa and Mahomes will battle against each other on the field this Sunday when the Dolphins and Chiefs face each other at Hard Rock Stadium
Tagovailoa and Mahomes have much in common, beginning with the fact that both were first-round selections and looked upon as franchise quarterbacks by their respective teams.
Mahomes was the 10th overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft and exploded onto the scene during his second season. During that campaign, he threw for 5,097 yards and an incredible 50 touchdown passes.
That performance resulted in his selection as the 2018 NFL MVP, and while his numbers dipped last year, he led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl title in 50 years. For his effort in the Super Bowl, he was named the game’s MVP.
Tagovailoa, the fifth overall choice last April, has already seen more time on the field as a rookie than Mahomes did
Sunday’s clash has Tagovailoa coming off arguably his best performance yet after completing 26 of 39 for 297 yards and one touchdown pass.
