Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores made it clear that rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will remain the team’s starter.
Tagovailoa was benched late in Miami’s 20-13 loss to the Denver Broncos due to ineffectiveness.
The loss snapped Miami’s five-game winning streak, but Flores explained why he plans on sticking with Tagovailoa going forward.
Tagovailoa completed just 11 of his 20 pass attempts on Sunday for 83 yards and a touchdown.
The Dolphins struggled to move the ball in the loss, but backup Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t fare much better than the rookie, as he threw a game-ending interception in the end zone.
Tagovailoa said that he wanted whatever was best for the team in regards to his benching on Sunday.
Miami will look to right the ship next week as it takes on the winless New York Jets.
