Former Miami Dolphins defensive back Reshad Jones was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of carrying a concealed firearm.
Jones, who spent 10 seasons with the Dolphins before being released in March, was arrested after police were called to a gas station where he was seen with a gun in his hand.
A police report indicated why the weapons charge was given.
“The grip of a handgun [was] protruding from his front right pants pocket,” the report indicated.
Jones reportedly alerted police that he’s never had a concealed weapons permit.
In addition to the firearm issue, the police report also indicated that the 32-year-old Jones had “a heavy odor of alcohol.”
Jones twice earned Pro Bowl honors after being selected in the fifth round of the 2010 draft by the Dolphins. He mainly played the free safety position, but also saw action at strong safety.
The most impressive of his 10 seasons with the Dolphins was in 2015, when he had a career-high five interceptions, returning two of them for touchdowns and earning his first Pro Bowl appearance.
