Miami Dolphins news: Dolphins agree to extension with Adam Shaheen

The Miami Dolphins are signing promising young tight end Adam Shaheen to a two-year contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The deal is for a reportedly max value of $7.85 million and includes $3.2 million in fully guaranteed money.

Shaheen, 26, was a second-round pick by the Chicago Bears in the 2017 NFL Draft.

However, he struggled in Chicago, as he caught just 26 passes in his first three seasons as a pro.

The Dolphins acquired Shaheen from Chicago in July for a 2021 seventh-round draft pick that could become a sixth-round selection.

This season, Shaheen has caught five of his seven targets for 58 yards and two touchdowns.

He has appeared in all six games for Miami this year, including two starts.

The Dolphins have clearly liked what they have seen from Shaheen. It will be interesting to see if his game takes another step forward as a result of this sign of confidence from the team.
