Report: Tua Tagovailoa back on Miami Dolphins injury report with new issue

Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has a fever that has landed him on the team’s injury report.

However, Dolphins head coach Brian Flores assured reporters that the fever is not related to the COVID-19 virus.

Flores made an effort to eliminate any potential rumors concerning Tagovailoa and the deadly virus.

After all, Tagovailoa’s illness comes in the wake of Tuesday’s news that at least nine members of the Tennessee Titans have tested positive for COVID-19.

“Tua will be out [Wednesday]. He’ll be on the injury report with an illness. This is not COVID-19 related,” Flores said to end Wednesday’s press conference.

“This is not a false positive. We’ve been through the protocols. We test every day. We’re confident saying it’s not COVID -related.”

Tagovailoa’s absence will mark the first time that he’s missed a practice during his time with the Dolphins began. He spent the offseason rehabilitating a major hip injury from last year.

The status of Tagovailoa for the Dolphins’ game on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks won’t be known until later in the week.

If Tagovailoa is unable to serve as Ryan Fitzpatrick’s backup, the Dolphins will presumably activate Reid Sinnett from the team’s practice squad.
