McMillan was drafted by the Dolphins in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He missed the entire 2017 season before returning to play in all 16 games during the 2018 season.
The 24-year-old is known to be a strong run defender, but he has struggled in pass coverage.
With this move, it’s clear that the coaching staff is confident that Elandon Roberts and Kamu Grugier-Hill will be able to step up into bigger roles this season.
Throughout his NFL career, McMillan has recorded 177 total tackles, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
