A new report indicates that Miami Dolphins wide receiver Preston Williams appears to be making a strong comeback from a knee injury and could be on the threshold of a breakout campaign during the 2020 season.

Williams suffered an ACL injury last November and was lost for the remainder of the season, In his eight games, he caught 32 passes as a rookie and started in seven of those contests.

An undrafted free agent out of Colorado State University, Williams missed out on the Dolphins’ improvement during the second half of the season, when they won five of their last nine games.

The 23-year-old Williams offers Dolphins signal-callers a large target at 6-foot-5 and managed to make multiple catches in each of his eight games last season.

Exactly who will be throwing to Williams is unknown right now, with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick likely to be behind center when the Dolphins are scheduled to open up their 2020 season on Sept. 13.

However, top draft pick Tua Tagovailoa is being groomed as the Dolphins’ quarterback of the future and will undoubtedly take Fitzpatrick’s spot in the starting lineup.

If Williams is able to return to his earlier form with the Dolphins this season, he’ll help the team have a dangerous pair of wideouts, teaming with sixth-year man DeVante Parker.
