Report: Miami Dolphins Won’t Allow Fans Into Training Camp or Home Preseason Game

The Miami Dolphins announced on Thursday that fans will not be able to attend either training camp sessions or the team’s single home preseason game.

The effort is the latest attempt by the Dolphins to address the continuing coronavirus pandemic. Cases of the deadly virus have spiked dramatically within the state of Florida in recent weeks.

Additional safety protocols have also been put in place by the Dolphins, including social distancing for any fans attending games at Hard Rock Stadium.

Fans will be required to wear masks inside the stadium when not eating, touchless entry points will be placed throughout the stadium and tailgating will be banned for the 2020 campaign.

Given the uncertain situation surrounding the virus, the Dolphins have delayed any final decisions on whether or not fans will even be able to attend the team’s home games this season.

“Things are changing week to week and we are still more than two months away from our first scheduled regular season home game, so we’ll wait and work with local authorities and make the determination about fans or no fans based on the data as we get closer,” CEO Tom Garfinkel said in a statement.

Originally, the Dolphins were scheduled to host two preseason contests at Hard Rock Stadium, but that was recently reduced to just one contest.

The Dolphins’ first regular season home game will be on Sept. 20, when they host the Buffalo Bills.
