NFL Insider Breaks Down Potential Week 1 Depth Chart for Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins had an exciting offseason, acquiring lots of talent that will surely help them improve from last season, when they compiled a surprising 5-11 record.

Josh Edwards of CBS Sports took a look at what could be the Dolphins’ potential depth chart for the start of the season.

Miami’s three first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, offensive tackle Austin Jackson and cornerback Noah Igbinoghene are all listed as starters.

Tagovailoa is ahead of Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen, who are second and third, respectively. Jackson is listed as the starting left tackle while another draftee, second-round pick Robert Hunt, is listed as the starting right tackle.

Igbinoghene is projected to be the starting slot cornerback, with Xavien Howard and Byron Jones, another offseason acquisition, the other starting cornerbacks.

At running back, the top two players are expected to be Matt Breida, who was acquired in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers during the draft, and Jordan Howard, who was signed to a two-year deal during the offseason.

Wide receiver has returning starters in DeVante Parker, Allen Hurns and Albert Wilson, while Mike Gesicki looks to have a big season as the starting tight end.

Signings Ereck Flowers and Ted Karras help round out a new-look offensive line at left guard and center, respectively, while Shaq Calhoun returns at right guard.

On the defensive side of the ball, Shaq Lawson will combine with Christian Wilkins and Davon Godchaux to make up the front three.

The two outside linebackers are projected to be Kyle Van Noy, another big offseason acquisition, and Emmanuel Ogbah, with the two inside linebackers being Raekwon McMillan and Jerome Baker.

The safety duo would end up being Eric Rowe, who signed a three-year extension in December, and Bobby McCain.

As for special teams, Jason Sanders would once again be the kicker with Matt Haack returning as the punter. Blake Ferguson, a sixth-round pick, would become the new long snapper, while Isaiah Ford and Jakeem Grant would handle kick and punt returns.
