NFL Analyst Severely Disrespects Tua Tagovailoa, Says Jarrett Stidham Is ‘More Talented’

The reviews on Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continue to flood in.

Just recently, an anonymous NFL general manager said that Tagovailoa was the best RPO quarterback he’s ever seen. In addition, former NFL linebacker Rob Ninkovich said that he would rather have Tagovailoa than Baltimore Ravens quarterback and reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.

However, NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms isn’t sold on the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The former NFL quarterback believes that New England Patriots second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham is more talented than Tagovailoa.

“[Stidham] is more talented than Tua,” Simms said Wednesday morning on WEEI sports radio. “Tua is a creation of [the University of] Alabama. You don’t think Jarrett Stidham, or like Justin Herbert, would have set the world on fire if they got to play with four first-round receivers and two first-round tackles?”

In his recent quarterback rankings, Simms placed Tagovailoa at No. 40 and Stidham at No. 35.

“I could be off on Stidham,” Simms said. “He could be way greater than what I say, way off. I am not saying my list is in stone, but my list has been pretty good the last few years, and I certainly like the potential of Jarrett Stidham, what I saw in college and he was very impressive in the preseason. The fact that New England likes him, makes me like him, too.”

Tagovailoa had quite the career at Alabama, throwing 87 touchdowns to just 11 interceptions in 32 games. He also completed a whopping 69.3 percent of his passes.

While Simms is entitled to his opinion, neither quarterback has started a game yet in the NFL, leaving the upcoming 2020 season as the true test to see where they stack up.
