Miami Dolphins defensive back Bobby McCain had a message for those doubting that the Dolphins will be successful this season.
McCain believes that Miami had a good offseason and is focused on getting better, rather than the preseason projections.
“I think we’ve made some good picks,” McCain said. “I think we had some good picks in free agents as well. I’m not too big on looking at ESPN and what they are talking about in March, April and May. We’re just going to take it one day at a time and try to get better as a team, and hopefully by the time January and February rolls around, they’ll be able to put their foot in their mouth.”
The Dolphins are coming off a 5-11 campaign in 2019, but additions such as cornerback Byron Jones, linebacker Kyle Van Noy, running back Jordan Howard and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa should help Miami improve on that record this season.
Jones and fellow cornerback Xavien Howard were recently ranked No. 6 among corner duos in the NFL. The duo, along with McCain, will look to fix a Miami secondary that was ranked dead last by Pro Football Focus in 2019.
McCain was limited to just nine games last season due to a shoulder injury, recording 25 tackles and two interceptions.
