Tua Tagovailoa Speaks Out After Getting Drafted by Miami Dolphins, Calls It ‘Dream Come True’
- Updated: April 24, 2020

Many Miami Dolphins fans had their draft dreams come true on Thursday night when the team selected quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 overall pick.
As it turns out, Tagovailoa’s own dream also came true on draft night.
The team’s new franchise quarterback said as much shortly after his name was called.

“It was a dream come true, man, to be able to have this opportunity,” Tagovailoa said. “I’d honestly like to just thank owner Stephen Ross. I’d like to thank GM Chris Grier. I’d also like to thank Coach [Brian] Flores for giving me this opportunity. This is special for not just me, but for my family as well.”
After months of speculation, the Dolphins ended up making the pick that the majority of their fans wanted.
Tagovailoa, fans and the Dolphins can celebrate tonight, but hard work will surely begin quite soon.
While the entire sports world has been put on pause due to the novel coronavirus, the NFL season is expected to go ahead as planned.
While it is not guaranteed that Tagovailoa will be a starter when camp begins, he will surely be given an opportunity to earn the spot.
Given his leadership ability and skills on the football field, chances are good he will do just that.
Hopefully, Thursday night will prove to be the first of many accomplished dreams for the young quarterback in his NFL career.
