Jalen Ramsey approves of Bobby Wagner going back to Seattle Seahawks

Newly acquired Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey offered a strong endorsement upon hearing about former teammate Bobby Wagner’s decision to return to the Seattle Seahawks.

Ramsey and Wagner both played for the Los Angeles Rams last season, with Wagner joining the team after previously spending his entire career with the Seahawks.

Unfortunately for both players, the defending Super Bowl champion Rams endured an injury-plagued season that resulted in the team missing the postseason. The Rams started out the season with a 2-1 record but then dropped eight of the team’s next nine contests to fall out of contention.

Wagner will be returning to comfortable surroundings for the 2023 season. The veteran linebacker spent 10 seasons with the Seahawks before signing with the Rams last year. He has also been selected to the Pro Bowl eight times.

The highlight of his time in a Seahawks uniform came in February 2014, when Wagner and the Seahawks celebrated the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl title. That 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos offered a glimpse of how dominating Wagner and the Seahawks were at that point.

Unfortunately, one year later, another trip to the Super Bowl ended in a heartbreaking loss to the New England Patriots.

The thrill of that Rams Super Bowl title is something that Ramsey is certainly hoping to bring to Miami. He was acquired by the Dolphins earlier this month in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and tight end Hunter Long.

Ramsey’s veteran presence and aggressive leadership in the Dolphins’ secondary should help provide the team’s defense with a huge boost.

This past season, the Dolphins’ pass defense struggled for a number of different reasons. One of those was the season-long absence of veteran cornerback Byron Jones, who was unable to come back from leg surgery.

Ramsey should help fill that hole, with six Pro Bowl selections during his seven NFL seasons. He was the fifth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars and was dealt to the Rams in 2019.
