A thin secondary for the Miami Dolphins is now even thinner following a devastating injury to cornerback Kader Kohou, who logged 15 appearances and nine starts for Miami a season ago. Kohou suffered a partially torn ACL during a recent practice and will be sidelined for the entirety of the coming 2025 season.

Former Dolphins offensive tackle Terron Armstead is no longer with the team after he retired from the NFL following the 2024 season, but the news of Kohou’s injury still seemed to hit him hard. He dedicated a long post on X to his former teammate and said that he’s “thinking about him personally.”
“Losing Kader Kohou for the season hurts man!!” Armstead wrote on X. “😩 huge blow for the team but I’m thinking about him personally!!
“Injuries can take you to a dark place! One day you’re about of a 90 man team, next day you are in isolation! You never see the guys, you never have time to sit and talk, you don’t feel apart of the team!
“If you see someone injured, send them some positive energy man! Uplift them and encourage them to attack the injury and rehab to get back soon as possible! 💙”
With Kohou out for the coming campaign, Miami’s entire starting secondary from just one season ago is now gone.

Kohou has spent all his seasons in the NFL as a Dolphin after he signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in the year 2022. He has been a frequent starter in Miami’s defensive unit over the last three seasons, as he’s logged 38 starts in that span.
In defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver’s first season with the Dolphins, Kohou totaled 45 combined tackles, 33 solo tackles, 12 assisted tackles and three tackles for loss in the 2024 campaign. He also had eight passes defended, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
Kohou’s injury is a tough blow for a Dolphins team that is now desperately in need of proven secondary players. Miami’s secondary is set to look much different than it did one season ago, and it’s reasonable to worry about the possibility that the team’s defense will take a hit compared to a season ago as a result.
Hopefully, the Dolphins will up their aggressiveness in finding secondary players on the open market or trading for them in light of Kohou’s season-ending injury. The way the team proceeds may impact whether or not a return to the playoffs is on the table.
