Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a wrist injury all the way back in August of last year in a joint practice with the Washington Commanders.

Despite recommendations that Hill should undergo season-ending surgery for the injury, the star receiver opted to instead play through it, and he even played in all 17 of Miami’s contests in the 2024 season.

However, he has since underwent two procedures this offseason to repair his wrist. Most recently, he had a surgery that removed previously placed screws in that part of his body.

With Hill now some time removed from his two procedures, he has recently made a major step in his recovery process. Per NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Hill was seen catching passes in individual drills for the first time on Tuesday.

Hill’s wrist injury very well could be what’s to blame for what was a forgettable 2024 season for him in his third campaign in Miami.

It might not be merely a coincidence that he tied a career-low for receiving touchdowns in a single season with just six and failed to reach quadruple digits in receiving yards for just the third time as an NFL player.

Still, other factors could have played into Hill’s down season outside of the injury bug. For one, he had to play a good chunk of the campaign sans quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on the field, as the Dolphins’ signal-caller missed six of the team’s 17 games with injuries.

If Hill is at full strength by the start of the 2025 season, that would likely pay dividends for Miami’s offensive attack. Earlier in his Dolphins career, Hill was arguably the best receiver in all of football, as he totaled 1,700-plus receiving yards in each of his first two seasons with the team and led the league in receiving yards in the 2023 season.

Whether Hill can return to that level remains to be seen, but he seems to be on the right track to being fully recuperated by the time the 2025 season starts up later in the year.
