Before wide receiver Tyreek Hill joined the Miami Dolphins, he spent the first six seasons of his NFL career playing for the Kansas City Chiefs organization.
Hill gave Chiefs receiver DeAndre Hopkins his flowers on social media after the 32-year-old came up big in Kansas City’s victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.

Hopkins totaled a season-high 86 receiving yards on eight receptions and finished with a pair of receiving touchdowns as well. His touchdowns came in the second and fourth quarters of the contest, and Hopkins’ second and final receiving touchdown gave the Chiefs a seven-point lead with less than five minutes remaining in the final frame.
The former first-round pick’s fantastic showing comes on the heels of two lackluster games against the Las Vegas Raiders and Buffalo Bills late last month. Against the Bills, when he was still a member of the Tennessee Titans, he actually finished with a negative number of receiving yards. Then, versus the Raiders (his first game with Kansas City), he ended up with just 29 receiving yards on two receptions.
The Chiefs still won that game against Las Vegas and have yet to lose a single contest since the start of the campaign. They’re the only undefeated team left in the NFL at 8-0.
Throughout his NFL career, Hopkins has consistently finished seasons with 1,000-plus receiving yards, and he totaled 1,057 as recently as the 2023 regular season with the Titans. But he projects to finish with far below quadruple digits in that stat this season. In eight games played with the Chiefs and Titans, he has just 288 receiving yards under his belt.
Hill has seen his former team โ the Chiefs โ thrive this season while his current team โ the Dolphins โ have struggled quite a bit. Miami owns a subpar 2-6 record and picked up its third loss in a row after it fell to the Bills on Nov. 3 by three points.
The Dolphins and Hill will hope to change the tide and avoid their fourth consecutive loss when they take on the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Nov. 11. The Rams have a 4-4 record on the season and beat the Seattle Seahawks in overtime in their most recent contest.
