Saturday’s WBA lightweight championship bout between Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin caught the attention of many fans, including Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
The three-time first-team All-Pro was active on X (formerly Twitter) while apparently watching the fight. He gave Martin his flowers for keeping up early with his opponent but predicted that Davis would still end up with a knockout victory.
Frank looking kinda quick but it just feels like Tank can drop him any minute lol

Ramsey was proven right, as Davis defended his belt after knocking Martin out with a vicious left hook in the eighth round.

The lightweight stars delighted fans with an entertaining battle. For a while, Martin, whose nickname is “The Ghost,” had the upper hand, as he held an advantage in the scorecards through three rounds.
But Davis, who walked out to the ring to the “Ghostbusters” theme song, shook off the rust in the latter part of the tiff. He eventually displayed why he earned the moniker “Tank” by steadily putting pressure on his opponent before tiring him out. By the seventh round, it appeared like it was only a matter of time before Davis would secure a knockout victory.
With the result, Davis retained his WBA title and remains undefeated in his professional career. He bumped up his record to 30-0, with 28 of those triumphs ending in knockouts.
The Maryland native also cemented his status as one of boxing’s brightest stars despite having to spend more than a month in jail last year because of legal issues. Regardless, he came into the Martin bout as the favorite, and he didn’t disappoint.
Even some of Ramsey’s Dolphins teammates — Jaylen Waddle and Odell Beckham Jr. — appeared to enjoy the fight.

Hopefully, Miami’s football stars will also give fans a reason to be excited once the regular season starts.
Ramsey will play in his second year with the Dolphins. He had an injury-plagued debut campaign for the organization, yet he still secured a seventh consecutive Pro Bowl selection. It remains to be seen if Beckham can also experience a similarly impressive first year in Miami after he rejected the chance to make more money elsewhere.
