The Miami Dolphins are looking like a team to beat heading into the 2024 NFL season, and long snapper Blake Ferguson seems to think the team has a major advantage thanks to its ownership.
In fact, Ferguson recently appeared on a podcast to state that the team has the best owner in sports.

Ferguson is, of course, referring to Dolphins owner Stephen Ross. Ross is a billionaire businessman and chairman of Related Companies, a global real estate firm that he founded in 1972.
Ross became majority owner of the Dolphins back in 2009, and he has remained a hands-on executive since then. While the Dolphins have undoubtedly gone through some tough times under Ross’ ownership, it looks like he and the rest of the front office are in the midst of turning things around in a big way.
After Ross purchased the Dolphins, it took the team until the 2016 season to enjoy a winning record and make it to the playoffs. Following that season, the team once again experienced a playoff drought.
That drought ended in the 2022 NFL season, and the team has now made it to the playoffs in two consecutive seasons. However, the Dolphins have failed to make it past the wild card round during that time.
Last season, some tough losses down the stretch contributed to the Dolphins having to head to the Kansas City Chiefs for the wild card round. They were trounced by the eventual Super Bowl champions, 26-7.
However, optimism continues to revolve around the Dolphins this offseason, and the team is seen as many as clear playoff contender and possible Super Bowl challenger.
As is the case with practically all teams in the NFL, the success and failure of the Dolphins 2024 season will largely hinge on the success of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. If he can stay healthy and take another step forward in his progression, the Dolphins could be an incredibly hard team to beat.
There is talent all over the roster for the Dolphins, and Ross is a big reason why.
The Dolphins certainly have challenges ahead, but a middling AFC East could help the Dolphins snag a division title and avoid the wild card woes come playoff time.
Ross has gone on record saying that his goal is, unsurprisingly, to bring a Super Bowl title to Miami. Time will tell if the upcoming season offers him the opportunity to do just that.
Interestingly, Ross recently received a massive, $10 billion offer for control of the Dolphins, their stadium and the F1 Miami race. It’s a massive offer and might have been a tough one for the 83-year-old owner to pass up. However, Ross did ultimately pass on the offer because he reportedly wants to keep his incredible assets within the family.
For that reason, it seems likely that the Dolphins will remain under the tutelage of the Ross family for many years to come.
