The Miami Dolphins made some changes to their coaching staff following the 2023 NFL season, and perhaps the biggest change was swapping out former Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio for newcomer Anthony Weaver.

While speaking with members of the media, Dolphins star safety Jevon Holland spoke about the changes that have come along with his new coordinator. One quote in particular is being perceived as a pretty major shot at Fangio.

In the comments section, one fan brought back a video that Holland apparently posted just after the news of the team and Fangio parting ways broke.

It looks like the issues that Fangio has had with former players isn’t specific to Holland, either. Earlier this year, NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus made news by offering some information of Fangio’s fractured relationships with players.

“There were quite a few players on the team that didn’t necessarily get along with Fangio,” Rosenhaus said to Miami-based sportscaster Josh Moser. “It wasn’t a great relationship with many of the players. There were some guys that loved him, but there were quite a few that didn’t. It definitely wasn’t a unanimous positive relationship.”

Potential personal issues aside, Fangio’s defensive approach didn’t always work on the field either. The Dolphins ranked No. 23 in the league last season in yards allowed. However, they did rank No. 11 in points allowed.

As for Holland, he had a solid season despite only playing in 12 games last season. He finished with 74 total tackles, four passes defended, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He also logged one interception that he took 99 yards for a touchdown.

He’s one of the stars on the Dolphins defense that will look to keep teams from scoring. Other stars in the defensive backfield include Jalen Ramsey and Jordan Poyer. The Dolphins defensive line is also stacked. Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb and first-round draft pick Chop Robinson will surely look to make life a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks.

Star power is just one part of the equation for success on the defensive side in the NFL. Weaver will be tasked with using all that talent to create the right scheme and call the right plays.

Fans will see if he’s up for the job in just a few short months.
