University of Louisville running back Isaac Guerendo will reportedly visit the Miami Dolphins ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, which commences on April 25.

“Louisville star running back Isaac Guerendo visited the AFC South champion [Houston] Texans, per a league source,” Aaron Wilson wrote.

“Guerendo, who has run the 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds at 6-foot 221 pounds, also has visits with the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers and participated in the Indianapolis Colts’ local prospect day, per sources.”

The 23-year-old spent five seasons playing college football, with his first four seasons coming with the University of Wisconsin.

He never quite starred in any one of his four seasons with the Badgers, and he wasn’t a consistent contributor for the team until his final season with the program, the 2022 season. In 12 games for the Badgers, Guerendo accumulated 385 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on 64 carries.

For as promising as Guerendo’s 2022 season was, he didn’t truly make a name for himself until the following season, which was his only season with the Cardinals. He racked up 810 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns across 14 appearances during his fifth season of college football.

NFL analyst Lance Zierlein wrote about Guerendo’s status as a prospect.

“The transfer out of Wisconsin is an ascending running back prospect who was finally able to get enough carries to show what he’s capable of,” Zierlein wrote. “Guerendo is built like a prototypical Badger runner, with a thick, well-proportioned frame. He was a much more decisive runner in 2023, but his cut-and-go burst is fairly average. He’s not sudden but runs with appropriate elusiveness, using subtle side-steps to continue the run’s downhill momentum. He can catch it out of the backfield and protect his quarterback, making him a suitable three-down backup. Guerendo’s size, skill set and demeanor are built for an NFL workload, and he could sneak into a bigger role in the future if he continues to progress.”

An NFC regional scout also spoke about Guerendo, who appears to be an intriguing prospect.

“He was a track guy in high school but you don’t always see that speed in his play,” the scout said. “You see people’s pads rattle when he gets into them.”

The Dolphins had one of the more effective rushing offenses in the NFL during the 2023 regular season. The team totaled 2,308 rushing yards, which was the sixth-most of any team in the league. Raheem Mostert, who is fresh off the first Pro Bowl appearance of his career, led the team by accumulating 1,012 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.

Miami also has one of the better young running backs in the game in De’Von Achane, who finished with 800 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in his first NFL season.

While Guerendo is an exciting talent, he seemingly has plenty of teams interested in him, so Dolphins fans shouldn’t be shocked if he doesn’t land in Miami.

The 2024 NFL Draft will start on April 25 and run through April 27. The Dolphins have a total of six picks in the upcoming draft.
