Free agent running back Leonard Fournette is extremely high on the Miami Dolphins’ roster ahead of the 2023 season.

He shared why he thinks they have the best roster in the NFL on “Good Morning Football,” touching on the team’s addition of star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

“So I’ll be rolling with the Miami Dolphins,” Fournette said. “For me, bringing a guy like Jalen over there, his attitude, I played with him in Jacksonville, played against him when he played with the [Los Angeles] Rams, I know what he brings to the table. And with Tyreek [Hill], Jalen, the young guys they have, they’re gonna do a tremendous job, and the defense is not bad. And I can’t wait to see what Jalen brings, and I’m very excited for him. A new home, a new place for him, it’s gonna be very exciting for him.”

Fournette added that the team needs quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to stay healthy this season as well.

“If Tua stay healthy, they can make a good run,” Fournette said.

Obviously last season, Tagvoailoa suffered multiple confirmed concussions and missed the team’s final two games of the regular season and its playoff matchup against the Buffalo Bills. It was clear the team was much better when he was on the field.

As for Ramsey, he brings a new dynamic to Miami’s defense.

The Dolphins acquired Ramsey in a trade that sent just a third-round pick in the 2023 draft and 24-year-old tight end Hunter Long to the Los Angeles Rams. To get a player of Ramsey’s caliber for that price is a massive steal for Miami, and he immediately bolsters their secondary alongside Jevon Holland and Xavien Howard.

Last season, Ramsey appeared in all seventeen games for the Rams, picking up four interceptions. He finished with a career-high 88 combined tackles, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Fournette clearly likes the Dolphins’ roster makeup, but he could be angling for a job as well.

The former first-round pick is currently a free agent after spending the last few seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fournette helped the Bucs win the Super Bowl in the 2020 season.

Miami has been rumored to be in the market for a running back – specifically Dalvin Cook – this offseason.

Fournette could be a potential backup plan for the team if Cook decides to sign elsewhere this offseason. Right now, Miami has Jeff Wilson Jr., Raheem Mostert and rookie De’Von Achane as the top options in the backfield entering the 2023 campaign.

Dolphins fans are certainly hoping that Fournette is right about this team’s talent as the Dolphins hope to make a deep playoff run in the coming season.
