Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said that new Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey could be the best cornerback that he’s ever worked with.

Ramsey, who was acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams this offseason, should help Miami fix its pass defense. The Dolphins ranked near the bottom of the league in passing yards allowed last season.

“Three-time All-Pro Jalen Ramsey, acquired in a trade with the Rams, should help the cause,” The Athletic’s Dan Pompei wrote. “Based on Ramsey’s past production, Fangio says he could be the best cornerback he’s worked with.”

Fangio has been in the NFL for a long time and worked with several great defensive players. Fangio came to Miami with loads of experience as an NFL defensive coordinator. He spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers as a defensive coordinator from the 1995 season through the 2018 campaign.

The longtime NFL coach also was the head coach of the Denver Broncos for three seasons.

For him to say that Ramsey could be the best corner he’s worked with is massive praise.

A six-time Pro Bowler, Ramsey has been a lockdown corner ever since he entered the NFL as the No. 5 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Last season, Ramsey appeared in all 17 games for the Rams, picking off four passes in the process.

He also finished the season with 88 tackles, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Adding Ramsey to a secondary that already consists of Xavien Howard and Jevon Holland is huge for Miami as it looks to turn things around on the defensive end.

Fangio’s advanced defensive mind should put Ramsey in good situations to have another big season.

For his career, Ramsey has 19 interceptions in 108 games. He has also picked off multiple passes in five of his seven NFL seasons, an extremely impressive feat since quarterbacks don’t exactly love throwing the ball his way.

Dolphins fans have to be excited to see the duo of Ramsey and Fangio go to work, and the new Dolphins corner has to be hoping that he’s the clear-cut No. 1 choice for Fangio by the end of their first season together.
