NFL exec envisions Tom Brady and Sean Payton in Miami next year if the Bucs QB doesn’t redo his contract

One NFL executive believes that Tom Brady and Sean Payton will be with the Miami Dolphins next year if Brady does not redo his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“If Tom Brady does not redo his contract, it does not take a rocket scientist to know that Brady and Sean are going to be in Miami next year,” the executive told The Athletic’s Mike Sando.

Brady, 44, retired briefly this offseason before deciding to come back and play another season with the Buccaneers.

Payton, who had been the New Orleans Saints’ head coach since 2006, stepped down following the 2021 campaign and looks to be taking the 2022 season off.

The Dolphins recently hired new head coach Mike McDaniel, and it’s hard to see the team moving on from him after the 2022 season in favor of Payton. However, Payton is one of the greatest offensive minds in history of the game, and he could join the team as an offensive assistant or in another role while McDaniel remains the head coach.

Brady is entering his 23rd season in the NFL, but he’s still performing at a very high level. If the Dolphins aren’t sold on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa following the 2022 season, it is possible that they could entertain bringing Brady to Miami.

Last season, Brady threw for 5,316 yards, 43 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 67.5 percent of his passes.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion is undoubtedly one of the greatest players in the history of the NFL, and it would be hard for the Dolphins to turn down his services..
