Report: Miami Dolphins lose another key player to positive COVID-19 test

The Miami Dolphins reportedly have placed safety Jevon Holland on the COVID-19 list.

Holland joins running backs Phillip Lindsay, Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed who have also been placed on the list. The Dolphins had a bye in Week 14.

Losing Holland would be a major blow for Miami, as the Dolphins need every win they can get as they fight for a spot in the playoffs in the AFC.

Holland reportedly told reporters that he was going to Universal Studios during Miami’s bye week. Despite being fully vaccinated, Holland was unable to avoid landing on the COVID-19 list.

In fact, all four players that are on the COVID-19 list for Miami reportedly are fully vaccinated.

The Dolphins aren’t the only team dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, as the virus and its variants have hit several NFL and NBA teams hard over the past few weeks.

Holland, 21, was Miami’s second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 13 games for the Dolphins this season, making 10 starts.

Holland has become an integral part of the team’s secondary, as he has accumulated 51 tackles, two tackles for a loss, two interceptions, two sacks and three fumble recoveries this season.

The Dolphins have an easier matchup in Week 15, as they will face the lowly New York Jets. However, with Miami potentially down a few players, anything can happen in this matchup.

The Dolphins certainly hope that Holland can clear the NFL’s protocol to return to the field for Week 15, but his status is uncertain at best at the moment.
