On second down early in the second half, the 23-year-old connected with wide receiver Mack Hollins who was near the 20-yard line. The touchdown gave Miami a seven-point lead with around nine minutes left in the quarter.
The Jets refused to stay down for long, though, and they managed to tie the score after a 62-yard touchdown pass by Joe Flacco shortly after.
Tagovailoa has been playing impressively so far in the Dolphins’ Week 11 match.
A win today for Miami would give the team three consecutive victories. Every win counts for the 3-7 squad if it wants to earn a playoff berth.
The Dolphins dug themselves a pretty huge hole during the first half of the 2021 season. After defeating the New England Patriots in the first game of the year, Miami then lost seven straight contests.
A combination of bad defense and injuries partly led to the slump. It was unfortunate because the franchise was looking to build off its impressive showing in the 2020 season where it recorded a 10-6 record.
Entering this season, there were hopes that Miami could finally reach the postseason again after a lengthy absence.
Now, it will have to climb an uphill battle and try to win each of its remaining games.
