Report: Xavien Howard reports to Miami Dolphins training camp

Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard reported to training camp on Tuesday.

Howard and the Dolphins engaged in a contract dispute for much of the offseason. At certain points, it looked like a trade was the most likely outcome. Instead, the conflict appears to be resolved for right now.

Howard is one of the best cornerbacks in football, and the Dolphins are undeniably a better defensive team when he is on the field. In the 2020 season, he led the league in interceptions with 10 and passes defended with 20.

At 28 years old, Howard has a lot of good years left. He has turned into one of Miami’s best value draft picks in recent memory, as he was taken in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Dolphins are looking to make the postseason in the 2021 season after their playoff hopes were squashed late in the 2020 campaign. It has been an up-and-down offseason, but it’s a great sign that Howard seems ready to go.
