Tua Tagovailoa heaps praise on Mac Jones, calls him a ‘more mobile Tom Brady’
- Updated: March 2, 2021
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa played in college at the University of Alabama.
During his time at Alabama, he shared the quarterback room with Mac Jones, who is now one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2021 draft class.
Tagovailoa gave an assessment of Jones and some of the other Alabama prospects in a one-on-one with Yahoo! Sports’ Eric Edholm and said that any team that gets Jones is “going to be very lucky” to have him.
In the interview, Tagovailoa compared Jones’ athleticism to that of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.
“I would say he’s a sly kind of athletic person,” Tagovailoa said. “He’s a more mobile Tom Brady. He’s very athletic, very smart too.”
Last season, Jones threw for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions while leading Alabama to a national title.
Clearly, Tagovailoa believes that his former teammate can be a successful player at the next level.
Depending on where Jones lands in the draft, he and Tagovailoa could square off next season.
