Report: Aaron Jones and the Miami Dolphins have ‘mutual interest’
- Updated: February 23, 2021

The Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones reportedly have “mutual interest” heading into free agency.
“Green Bay Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones has the Dolphins among teams he’s willing to consider,” the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson wrote. “And the interest is mutual, according to a league source.”
Jones, 26, was a fifth-round pick back in the 2017 NFL Draft.
He had a breakout season during the 2019 campaign, as he carried the ball 236 times for 1,084 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns.
Last season, despite only playing in 14 games, he topped his rushing total from 2019 with 1,104 yards on just 201 carries.
The Dolphins certainly could upgrade their backfield that is currently led by Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed.
Jones is a proven runner that could help take some pressure off Tua Tagovailoa next season.
For his career, Jones averages 5.2 yards per carry. He has ran for 3,364 yards and 37 touchdowns across 54 games (42 starts).
