Watson is coming off a career year with the Houston Texans, but has expressed his anger and frustration over the apparent broken promises with the team over the hiring of a new general manager and head coach.
That’s led to plenty of rumors about Watson being dealt elsewhere by the rebuilding Texans, with the list of possible teams including the Dolphins.
In truth, Watson and Wilkins both played collegiately at Clemson University, which could simply mean that that past connection was the reason for the dinner outing.
While Davis played at the University of Alabama, he and Wilkins are part of the Dolphins’ young, developing defensive line and have obviously formed a friendship during their time together.
The Dolphins have given no indication that they plan on trying to acquire Watson, with Tua Tagovailoa coming off his rookie season. While Tagovailoa had some bumps along the way, the team has already indicated that it feels he’s the team’s quarterback of the future.
