Report: Texans GM ‘big fan’ of Tua Tagovailoa, team doesn’t view him as weak QB prospect
- Updated: January 22, 2021

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Houston Texans did not see Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in a very positive light.
The initial report related to a potential deal between the Texans and Dolphins for star passer Deshaun Watson.
While there has been no major movement on the rumors related to Watson, it does seem as though there is conflicting information when it comes to the Texans’ opinion of Tagovailoa.
Someone I trust told me that the notion that the Texans don't view Tua Tagovailoa as an upper-echelon QB prospect are "completely false". It's also been rumored that the Texans new GM Nick Caserio was a big fan of Tua during the draft process.

It is totally unclear how likely it is that Watson ends up in Miami. However, if the Texans do indeed see Tagovailoa as a valuable asset, it must be assumed that the chances of a trade increase.
When it comes to the Dolphins fan base, it seems to be split over the idea of trading Tagovailoa for Watson.
Tagovailoa has a lot of potential and is still considered an elite prospect despite a so-so rookie campaign.
As for Watson, he is undoubtedly one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL.
Still, the price tag for such a talent would be very steep indeed. Only time will tell if the Dolphins decide to make a major push for such a trade in the coming months.
