Jakeem Grant explains how Tua Tagovailoa is already the ‘leader of the team’
- Updated: November 16, 2020

The rise of Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continued on Sunday, as he helped the team to a 29-21 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
He’s also apparently taken charge. Wide receiver Jakeem Grant said that the rookie is already the Dolphins’ leader on the field.
“The point guard is the leader of the team and that’s exactly what Tua is,” said Jakeem Grant, the receiver, who happened to be wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey in his interview.
“Tua’s the leader. He game me a couple of assists. And he gave a couple assists to DeVante [Parker], too. Tua’s our point guard on the field.”
Against L.A. on Sunday, Tagovailoa completed 15 of 25 pass attempts and threw two touchdown passes with no interceptions.
Thanks to his efforts, Miami got out of the blocks to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
The Fins are now a surprising 6-3 on the season. With a favorable schedule remaining, they’re in position to not only return to the playoffs, but to possibly even finish first in the AFC East.
