Report: Miami Dolphins offer update on Byron Jones for matchup vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

1 Min Read

The Miami Dolphins have announced that cornerback Byron Jones will not play in Thursday night’s road matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jones left Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills as a result of a groin injury suffered. The short turnaround time to the next contest no doubt made the hopes of Jones playing even more difficult.

The injury to Jones puts the focus on rookie Noah Igbinoghene to offer a quality replacement in his absence, something that Igbinoghene struggled with against Buffalo.

Jones was a huge offseason investment by the Dolphins, who were seeking to make steep upgrades from last year’s miserable defensive effort.

From a team perspective, the Dolphins are simply hoping to get into the win column after dropping their first two contests.

The Dolphins’ opponents, the Jaguars, have split their first two games, falling to the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.
