Miami Dolphins News: Dolphins Release Lineman Kraig Urbik

1 Min Read

The Miami Dolphins waived offensive lineman Kraig Urbik with an injury settlement on Saturday, making him available to sign with any team once he clears waivers and is healthy.

Urbik has battled a right knee injury and was unable to play in the Dolphins’ last two preseason games. According to Miami head coach Adam Gase, the knee injury will require Urbik to have surgery in the future.

The unfortunate injury adds more questions to the battle for the starting left guard spot, as original front-runner Ted Larsen was lost for the first eight games of the regular season due to a torn biceps and was placed on injured reserve earlier this month.

The release of Urbik likely leaves the Miami left guard position battle to backups Anthony Steen, Isaac Asiata and Jake Brendel until Larsen is able to return this season.

Urbik is an eight-year veteran who was drafted in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He has made 63 regular season starts in his career, including six starts for the Dolphins in 2016.
