4. Will the Dolphins Keep More than Five Receivers?
It is safe to say Miami’s receivers will have a different look this season after the Dolphins cut ties with veterans Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson. Over the offseason, the Dolphins replaced them with veterans Greg Jennings, Kenny Stills and first round pick DeVante Parker. Slot receiver Jarvis Landry returns, looking to set the team record for catches in a season, as does Rishard Matthews on the outside.
While the top five receivers appear set on paper, Stills (calf) and Parker (foot) are both sidelined by injuries. Parker, who is recovering from foot surgery, is sidelined until the start of the regular season, if not longer. So with that news, Christion Jones, LaRon Byrd, Cobi Hamilton, Matt Hazel, Tommy Streeter, Kevin Cone, and Damarr Aultman must take advantage of their opportunities. The seven of them are competing for possibly one opening on the Dolphins. Most have had good moments, but will any show they deserve to be kept as a sixth receiver?
